trendtalk#4: Spring/Summer 2012

Trend Talk 4 Invite

Join us on 11 October 2012 for trendtalk#4, the last trend update of this year. These quarterly events are designed to bring the creative industry up to speed with the latest tendencies, colour-ways, and new directions for lifestyle, home, retail display and product design. Trendtalk sessions are hosted by Plascon, in aid of design charity Rock Girl.

The line-up for trendtalk#4 includes well-known decorator Marcia Margolius, the name behind the SA Décor & Design Annual, who will give a reportback on September’s Maison et Objet in Paris; arts writer Judy Bryant will share valuable insights and images from her September trip to Helsinki, this year’s World Design Capital, for Design Week Helsinki, ahead of WDC2014.

Analyst and researcher Lara Faris from Target Group Index Southern Africa will talk about how people are taking their individualism into their lives – in their homes, in their kitchens, in their food, in their fashion. It’s not about looking good anymore – it’s about expression of self and personal freedom. And she’s got the data to prove it.

Food stylist and consultant Maranda Engelbrecht will share thoughts about food and excerpts from her beautiful new book, which launches 9 October. Interior Architect Nick Criticos, Store Design Manager for Woolworths, will discuss new directions for retail display on his return from a scouting trip abroad.

Stylist Tracy Lynch will speak about her recent trip to Paris Design Week and her visit to the studio of extraordinary craft artist Frederique Morrel. And dynamic duo Aidan Hart and Lawrence Holmes of Inhouse Brand Architects will reveal the impact of changing lifestyles on office design, and what the office of the future is starting to look like… And there will be a surprise give-away at the event, courtesy of Babylonstoren!

Booking: Guests are asked to please to arrive early to secure a seat, as there is no advance booking.
